Forensic psychology refers to professional practice by any psychologist working within any sub-discipline of psychology when applying the scientific, technical, or specialized knowledge of psychology to the law to assist in addressing legal, contractual, and administrative matters (APA, 2011). Its primary objective is to assist the criminal justice systems around the world, and its role has exponentially expanded throughout the years. (Demirden, 2023)
Accordingly, forensic psychological research has made significant contributions to the development of forensic science, particularly in criminal investigation, interrogation, different interview models, and the development of in-service training for law enforcement officers as well as other justice authorities. On this note, this seminar/workshop aims to define the nature of forensic psychology, its actual role in criminal investigation particularly in criminal profiling, interviewing approaches to suspects and witnesses, and its role in the determination of criminal insanity.
