Prof. (Dr) Tapan R. Mohanty is a distinguished Professor of Sociology of Law at the National Law Institute University in Bhopal, a premier law school in India. His extensive academic and research background includes a doctoral dissertation on the entrepreneurial dimensions of traditional crafts among rural artisans in Madhya Pradesh. Over the years, he has focused on globalization, tribal development, the culture of consumption, and the Sociology of Law. With a remarkable academic record, he has undertaken major research projects on topics such as educational management, the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, engendering criminal law, and the implementation of the PCPNDT Act. His contributions extend to conducting training programs for professionals, including lawyers, judges, and executives of private and public sector companies. He has authored over 70 research articles published in international and national journals. He holds a series of academic achievements, including awards, scholarships, and fellowships, such as the Erasmus-Mundus Fellowship from the European Union.
